Pewter received the package I sent and replied back to me.
Hi Raven. Boy do I love the Kittles treats and I guess I will try to get that Sadie to play with those toys (like that will be a problem, she loves toys). Hopefully she will leave me alone. I have gotten braver in my excursions out of the bedroom but Sadie is sure intense and my moms need to still protect me. I am hoping with a little more time and training treat she will start to ignore me! I guess I will need to give it more time.

Your cousin Pewter
Here are two short videos of my dog-cousin Sadie being a goofy puppy. If you wouldn’t mind watching them (they’re only about 30 seconds combined) I know my aunts would love to see that lots of people watched their new puppy play! They adopted Sadie out of a prison-foster program, so she wasn’t the most social dog to start with and she needs a lot of training. But they’re both experienced with dogs and they will give her a fantastic home.
First she’s squirming around the floor with a squeeky toy.
And next she’s playing with one of the toys I sent in hopes that she will stay distracted from chasing my kitty-cousin Pewter.
Everyone is hoping Sadie’s behavior improves with training. It will take time for her to control her natural instinct to chase Pewter and I’m happy to send as many training treats as needed to help distract her from cousin Pewter. Pewter is better at navigating the slippery floors so she has a bit of an advantage over the goofy nuisance. And there is always the baby gate that keeps the dog out of the bedroom!
I’m so glad my Mom & Dad decided against getting another dog after Bentley died. We love dogs, but we like them big, gentle, and with no prey drive so they’re not inclined to chase anything. She’s still thinking about adopting kittens this year, but she’s less than 50% convinced that’s a good idea for my health & well being. Mom knows I get bored during the day but also knows my personality has flourished as an only kitty who gets all the good perches and all their attention. I’m really lucky that Mom has 3-day weekends so I’m home alone at most 4 days a week. If she worked 5 days a week, I’d probably be putting up with kittens!

Oh raven, I hope things settle down for Cousin Pewter. Your Mom is very wise to consider your feelings, and you probably both miss Bentley. Purrs,
Bentley was a superb dog as we’re lucky to have had him. Mom hesitates to try to get another dog because any dog would have a tough time measuring up to his wonderful disposition and gentle nature.
I feel so bad for Pewter having to deal with a wild dog after being in charge of the house for so long.
Me too. At 14 years old, she should have a peaceful senior life.
Sadie looks like a fun bundle of energy! Actually one of the kitties in the Rescued 2 book my human just published went to live with two Weimaraners – their human had to do a lot of training to get them to live nicely with Pippa, but it worked out!
Oh my. Our neighbor has had 2 Weimaraners. They have a lot of energy!
We’re still working on gettin the westies trained!
It sometimes takes some time to get two together ! Usually with a lot of patience it will work. The less the humans interfere the better it is !
Sounds like the humans need some training too and hopefully the goofy dog will leave Pewter alone. That dog does look happy!
They’re pretty good with dogs. Hopefully Sadie is a quick learner and isn’t one of those dogs who just wants to chase critters.
Raven, I encourage your people to visit http://www.wayofcats.com/blog/ and read about bringing more cats into the household with the least amount of stress to you! I think you’d like having other kitties, but your people know best. Puppies can be really crazy; here’s hoping Pewter’s humans get it all figured out. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Interesting blog. Mom thinks I would accept kittens without too much stress, but there’s no guarantees the kittens wouldn’t grow up to dominate me. My personally really blossomed after I became an only cat, and Mom doesn’t want me to revert to hiding in the closet because there’s a new bossy cat around.

Sadie is a cutie, but I think Pewter needs to use her smacky paw with claws to set boundaries.
I was going to tell her that too, but then I remembered someone stole her claws before my aunts adopted her. 😦
Sadie sure is having fun with her toys. Hopefully, all the playing will wear her out and she’ll leave Pewter alone.
Yes, she needs to play, play, play and then learn that she’s supposed to be calm around the kitty.
Dogs scare us. We don’t even like those little tiny old lady favorites that seem quite prevalent around here. (Plus, we don’t even get the point of those.) And as for our kitten weigh-in, we’d have to say resist. They’re cute and all but they take forever to train to leave us alone. (Just look at the I boys here, and they were over a year old when they got here.)
Sadie sure is playful! That must be hard for Pewter, but that’s good that Sadie is being trained. I’m sure it will just take some time. Raven, it’s nice that you sent some toys and things to help with Sadie’s training.

I think it’s nice that your Mom carefully considers your needs when deciding whether to bring any new siblings home for you, Raven. It’s not always easy to know!
