Not silly cat stuff

I rarely post non-animal topics, but this is one of the most important things I’ve encountered in the last few weeks. Although I no longer work in a science field, I was educated and trained as a scientist and believe wholeheartedly in Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s message. I hope you find it interesting and maybe think it important enough to share with others (share the link directly from YouTube using the arrow in the top-right corner of the video).

Ok, a cat related thought: Raven and I are glad most of humanity has rejected the absurd myth that cats are associated with evil.

Next time we’ll be light-hearted and maybe even post a photo of my tail, which is getting a little more floofy!

My human says we live in very scary times right now. She is often stressed out about what is happening and it is making it harder for her to get things done.

    • Raven says:

It seems to me that all the hype and nonsense used to be more about unimportant things like celebrities and pop culture. But now it pervades areas that really matter (at least to me). I’m not concerned about the havoc humans bring upon themselves, but I’d like to spare the planet and the non-human species from our hubristic destruction.

  2. Mariodacat says:

These are very scary times. That is one excellent video. Thank you for sharing.

  3. I will come back and watch the whole video in a little while, but I agree with your comments that we need to stop schmucking up the planet for the other living beings!

  4. Brian says:

mWe do like that smart Neil dude!

  5. 15andmeowing says:

Excellent video. I noticed they mentioned people that refuse vaccines for their kids. That really bugs me because it is endangering many like the elderly whose vaccines may no longer be working.

  6. Thank you, thank you, for sharing that. Our mom is very concerned about the…well, just about everything these days.

  7. Yes, we’re living in scary times. Claire always says that if cats ruled the world, it would be a better place, and we agree with her ! Purrs

  8. Annie says:

Raven, you’re breathtaking in this photo. You look aglow and your eyes are mesmerizing!

  9. The more I see humanity become inhumane, the more I seek animal companionship. HUGS.
Now, let’s see that floofy tail.

  10. BZ Dogs says:

    Raven looks glorious!

  11. Deziz World says:

Well we think you be lookin’ just gawjus Raven. Fank you fur comin’ to Raena’s birthday pawrty. We think science is great and has it’s place. But since most of da scenarios he mentioned are not proven fact, and fank da cats our mommy was created by God and not evolved from some primate, we can still choose to seek out da truth ‘stead of believin’ somepawdy’s pawlitical agenda, such as da green movement and global warmin’. Big hugs fur all.

    Luv ya’

    Dezi and Raena

    • Raven says:

Quite the contrary. The examples he used are facts: GMOs are safe, vaccines are safe & effective, and the global climate is changing.

  12. Jan K says:

I do believe in science, but I also think that there are limits to how far we should go against nature. I won’t ever be comfortable with things like GMO’s and a lot of chemicals and such. I believe that pesticides are what has harmed our bee populations which are so important.
It’s tough to know what to believe sometimes when there is so much information out there, and it often is contradicting!

We enjoy getting comments.
