International Box Day

Mom doesn’t keep track of all the “days” celebrated across the blogsphere, but she saw lots of you celebrating International Box Day on Monday.

She was home from work and decided to join the party. Better late than never?

I generally like boxes, but the ones my pet food is shipped in don’t interest me at all. Maybe they’re too flat or something, I don’t know, but I’ve never gotten inside one or shown any interest in them. This one was repurposed to protect our young basil plants from the scorching sun and heat we’re getting this week.

We’re on track to set a record for consecutive days over 100 in June — 9 days! It’s awful and we’re just trying to keep everything in the garden alive….not even thriving….just alive!  For those of you lucky enough touse the metric system,  100 F = nearly 38 C.

We know a lot of you are experiencing very hot weather too. Please try to stay out of the heat and keep all living things safe and well watered.

  1. I heard Phoenix is 117 today, and will be 120 tomorrow. I have been to Mayo in AZ several times. I love it there, but could not live there. Stay safe and hydrated. All of you. Hugs!

  2. Wow, that is hot! We had some hot weather last week…now it’s cooled down a little. You need to get a Chewy box that is more square and higher. Maybe they’ll ship something like that to you sometime.

    1. I doubled my food order this week, so maybe I’ll get a bigger box. With my luck, I’ll end up getting two of the same size boxes I usually get.

  3. Raven, we can relate about boxes, Neytiri and I tend to like paper bags better especially the very big ones. Wow, you sure have some hot temperatures where you live, hope you can stay cool. Thanks so much for coming by with your sweet comment, we really appreciate it.

  4. We are lucky that we are avoiding the worst of it down here in southern California, and that we missed the absolute worst of the heat in Phoenix this past weekend. This heat is awful for so many!

  5. Holy cow! I guess we’ll stop complaining about our low 90’s now. We’re getting a break from them too, we’ll try to send some of our cooling breezes your way, though it’s a long haul!

    1. Low 90s can be miserable if you have high humidity. Our humidity is relatively low (25%).
We look forward to being in the high 90s!

    1. I’ve seen that in the news. Hopefully you have air conditioning, or can keep your house cool by opening the windows in the evening.

  6. We are not picky about our boxes. Any size, shape or type works for us. OMC…that is just too, too hot. We can’t stand the 90 degree days we’ve had. Stay inside and stay cool! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
